Imperial Eclipse

Bated Breath ex Queen of Mean

Imperial Eclipse has a very impressive pedigree and looks to be a horse that will progress nicely from his 2yo season to his 3yo season. The quality is clear to see being such a close relation to Zoffany and with all Queen of Means offspring who have raced being winners.

Bated Breath Colt HIGHLIGHTS

  • This stunning colt hails from a family which has immense strength in depth being out of a mare who is a half-sister to Zoffany (a successful stallion at Coolmore Ireland), Rostropovich, Wilshire Boulevard and That's plenty.
  • The Dam herself won on the racetrack from only 2 outings!
  • Pivotal as this colt's damsire further enhances his pedigree appeal as he has been a champion broodmare sire multiple times.
  • This colt's pedigree continues to show its strength in depth with Spotlight, projection and Berkshire Rocco all present in his family.
  • He looks like he will make a lovely 2-year-old for next season and will be going into training with George Boughey in Newmarket.
  • George has had an incredible start to his training career and we hope this colt will continue his run of success.

PEDIGREE

Bated Breath Colt

Queen of Mean won at 3yo from only 2 starts for John Gosden before her attentions were switched to producing the next generation, due in no small part due to her sire Pivotal being a leading broodmare sire. She has clearly passed on her ability to her offspring with all of her 3 runners having won.
Tyranny: managed the remarkable feat of producing 5 black type performers, this included Group2 winning Rostropovich and the Group 1 winning Zoffany who later went to be a stallion at Coolmore!
Dust Dancer a Group 3 winner herself also produced both black type performers and mares who went on themselves to produce black type performers.
This Bated Breath Colt has a very impressive pedigree and looks to be a horse that will progress nicely from his 2yo season to his 3yo season. The quality is clear to see being such a close relation to Zoffany and with all Queen of Means offspring who have raced being winners.

TRAINER

George Boughey

George Boughey hails from a farming family in Dorset, and from an early age, it was clear that his future would revolve around spending time with animals. During his education, he was more taken by form books than text books, and he started life in racing working in the blood stock business.

After studying Agriculture and Business Management at Newcastle University, George travelled to Australia, where he was fortunate to work for racing giants, Gai Waterhouse and Lloyd Williams in Sydney and Melbourne respectively. After returning to the UK, George spent six years working as assistant trainer to Hugo Palmer in Newmarket.

Having managed the yard’s sprawling satellite site, Yellowstone Park Stables, George was granted a license to train in Newmarket in 2019. He currently has a highly impressive strike rate 25% which shows the talent which this young trainer has.
